Slow And Steady Wins The Race!

A Big Hello To My Friends…

What a week it has been?! Crazy month I would say. World has changed its shape a week later. Ozone is threatening to melt the icebergs and Japan is still coming to terms with the tsunami. There are some good things too… Read on.

World Turtle Day[May 23]

Steve was wearing a figure hugging t-shirt, but alas there was no figure to show. It looked like the t-shirt was on a cloth hanger. He had his contacts instead of the glasses and shorts that never touched the kneecap. Something fishy, eh? I called out, “What’s up Steven… You up for the New York Marathon?” “Nah! Bob. It’s Summerville Marathon.” He winked. “Sounds fun. Will Usain Bolt be there?” I asked with a tinge of sarcasm. “No, but the Buzz Lightyear of United States, Steve would be there. To infinity… And beyond!” He shouted with glee. “Okay, buddy boy… All the best.”

A day later… Steve was looking quite exhausted curled up on his bean bag and massaging his legs with an ice bag. “I heard you didn’t make the podium, Steve!” I laughed. “Bob, it’s the turtle… Not my fault.” He said. “What did the turtle do?” I queried. “Well, I was told, slow and steady wins the race… So, I took it slow, thought I would take it slow for a few laps and then rush in the last few laps and make it to the finish. My bad luck, I calculated wrong, when I thought I would start picking pace, I was told by the guy with the flag that I jus’ finished the race. You know the worst part? There was only the flag guy left. All others had gone home long back.” He sulked. I had to break into a crazy madman laugh, couldn’t resist. “Oh! Steve, turtles are good at Math. They play to their strengths and do the right thing. Don’t worry, next time, you are on the track, I will stand by to tell you when to sprint.” I patted his back.

May Flowers[May]

Here’s something I wrote for Aaliyah:

“I feel like being next to you right now. Holding your soft hands to my cheek and whispering in your ears… I love you. I want to hold you by the hips and kiss your forehead. Look into your eyes and smile a subtle smile. I want to hold the back of your head and let you rest your head on my chest. Close my eyes and freeze the moment forever.”

Bob.

Anniversary – Celebration Of Love.

Here’s what she wrote back:

“Bob, it’s exactly 4 years now since you came into my life. Actually, today is our anniversary of love. In all these years, prior to meeting you every time, I would wish to do all that you have mentioned in your last mail and more. But when I see you face to face, all I could think is to stand back and watch you talk. Jus’ see the twinkle in your eyes, when you animatedly talk about anything and everything. I forget whatever else that I want to do. At that moment, I want nothing more but to see you smile.”

Love,

Aaliyah.

Great Day, Today and Always!

I found this Zen gem on Ron’s Facebook wall.

Two monks were arguing about the temple flag waving in the wind. One said, “The flag moves.” The other said, “The wind moves.” They argued back and forth but could not agree. Huineng, the sixth Patriarch, said: “Gentlemen! It is not the flag that moves. It is not the wind that moves. It is your mind that moves.” Isn’t that right? Love, lust, greed and everything else is in the mind. Happy thoughts make a happy person.

Okay, now, here is the deal… I have started updating Editor Bob’s Blog every Monday and Thursday. I want you to come around, take a read and make the experience interactive. There are some real interesting things happening in the world and let’s discuss what’s worth. In the meantime, connect with your friends and folks and spread some smiles.
